DNV GL, the world’s largest resource of independent energy experts, will be participating at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi between the 18th – 21nd January 2016 (Abu Dhabi Exhibition Centre, Hall 6, stand# 6320). Powering the future in the Middle East, DNV GL’s team will discuss the potential of renewable energy, energy efficiency and smart metering solutions to meet growing energy demands and help the region to make the transition from a hydrocarbon based economy to a greener model.
DNV GL at WFES
During the summit DNV GL will also be engaging in the following activities:
Ministry of Energy project - DNV GL is working on an eight-month project for the UAE Ministry of Energy to design a database and automation system to gather energy information for the whole of the UAE. This will enable the UAE to collate more accurate and timely data on energy consumption (and CO2 emissions) for the country.

World Energy Council – A report on Energy Storage has been produced for World Energy Council by Paul Gardner, DNV GL Segment Leader, and will be launched at WFES 2016.

IRENA project – DNV GL is working with The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to develop two Technical Guidelines for Microgrids as part of the IRENA Project Navigator Tool. IRENA is an intergovernmental organisation that supports countries in their transition to a sustainable energy future. Roland Roesch (IRENA) and Jules Smeets (DNV GL) will present the initial results of this project.
Mohammed Atif, Area Manager, Africa & Middle East will also be attending a panel session on Wednesday 20th January between 12:15 - 13:00, to discuss the new projects in the MENA solar sector. Despite some of the highest solar irradiance levels in the world, the MENA market has produced very little solar energy – until now.
